The duo and team manager Ropate Kauvesi arrived in Nadi this afternoon.

Semi Kunatani said he was very happy to be back even though he did not join the rest of the team during the celebrations.

KUNATANI: “But I did enjoy back in Rio. I was glad that I attended the closing ceremony together with Leone and the rest.”

Kunatani said, for now, he will head home and rest for a while before he will head back to France.

KUNATANI: “If I get that chance of joining the Fiji 7s team again I am happy to do so. Working with Ben has really been a boost for me, he had really taught us well. Ben Ryan has said to leave and as a player, I wouldn’t want him to leave. Nakarawa I thank all the supporters who turned out here today and waited for us. Their arrival at the airport here in numbers is a boost for us and I thank them for that.”

He said there for the time being there has no confirmation yet for his departure to France.

KUNATANI: “It has been a while I haven’t been with my family so I will try and spend some more time with my family before I had back to France. There is no confirmation on my departure to France. It will be tools down for me now. I would encourage the fans of Fiji to keep on supporting Fiji.”

Team Manager Ropate Kauvesi said that they enjoyed the closing ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

KAUVESI: “All I can say that there is nothing that can jeopardize the boy’s name or Team Fijis name or Fiji Rugby. Unfortunately, people do see things and things do happen but we were glad to close off the ceremony and enjoy it and it was the first time for these boys and the first time for the boys to win gold.”

Meanwhile, an investiture ceremony will take place tomorrow to bestow the honours of the Office of the Order of Fiji to the remaining 7s players including team manager Ropate Kauvesi, Chris Cracknel and Jeremy Manning by His Excellency the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote.
