In a statement, Police spokesperson Inspector Jokatama Qio said the man suffered a heart attack which resulted in the accident.
QIO: “The result of the post-mortem showed the victim suffered a heart attack which resulted in the accident.”
Inspector Qio said following the post-mortem examination, the investigation file will now be compiled and submitted to the Resident Magistrate for inquest.
A 30-year-old carrier driver of Rarawai, Ba died following a motor vehicle accident this morning at 2am while the second passenger in the vehicle, a 48-year-old man did not sustain serious injuries.
In a statement, Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra said the two were driving towards Ba town.
MISHRA: “The victim was driving towards Ba town with another 48-year-old man when their vehicle veered onto the opposite lane and swiped the right side of an oncoming vehicle. This resulted in the vehicle going off road and tumbling before landing upside down near a cane field. “
SSP Mishra said efforts to revive the deceased proved futile.
MISHRA: “The victim was rushed to the hospital but was unfortunately pronounced dead. The 48-year-old passenger was also treated and investigations continue.”
Meanwhile, the road death toll stands at 32 compared to 34 for the same period last year.
