As part of efforts to modernize the agriculture sector, the Ministry of Agriculture organised a training for farmers on treating farming as a business.The training included farm management by the Land Resource Planning and Development Division of the Ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Health at Vakabuli village in Vitogo, Ba.

Agriculture Officer (Farm Management West) Lanieta Kunadua said the main purpose of the training was to advocate for management of natural resources through sustainable farming. It also includes other potential opportunities that could add value and enhance food and income security.

Vakabuli Villager Rusiate Saukuru said the Farm Management Training has in many ways encompassed the direction of a fruitful investment on the land.

More often we give our land away for lease without realizing the potential the land has.

The training has taught us various aspects of farming and land sustainability with the knowledge of land classification; these are things we did not know.

The Ministry of Agriculture is responsible for the enhancement of food and income security through agriculture sector growth and it is intended to lead to economic growth, poverty alleviation and sustainable management of natural resources
