The Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho stressed this while addressing police officers during the 2nd quarter parade at Subrails Park in Labasa early this morning.

Brigadier-General Qiliho said this was mainly in light of the development of new and existing airports, to government’s focus on upgrading infrastructure.

QILIHO: “All of you serving in this Division should be fully aware of Government’s commitment on the Look North Policy. You need to keep in mind the bigger picture and know the consequences failing to conduct our work properly will have on the institution and the nation.”

Brigadier-General Qiliho acknowledged the Fijian Government’s support in assisting the police force in receiving new vehicles.

QILIHO: “We have recently been the recipient of new vehicles and I am optimistic more support in other forms will be heading our way. However we need to show them that their investment will be worth every last cent. It’s not easy to ask for vehicles, particularly when accidents continue to happen.”

He added that he would  be making a public statement next week on the results of our Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the first six months of 2016.

QILIHO: “The main reason as to why complaints against us continues to be received, is because some of us have the wrong attitude. Somewhere along your career as a police officer, some have lost that passion to serve. Some just don’t care about their work and it reflects negatively on the institution as a whole.”

Meanwhile, he also lauded the achievements of medal recipients.

QLIHO: “Thank you for staying true to the oath you took to serve the people of Fiji. We need to be open and frank with each other because as your Commissioner I have a certain standard of the way I want things done. There will always be those who will never be happy with the way things are.”

“Based on the results of our work for the first six months, I can confidently say we are doing well, so continue with the great work. I will continue to do my part and I will need your help to show the Government of the day as well as the people of Fiji that they can trust us.”
