This was confirmed by Fiji Roads Authority today.

Fiji Roads Authority said the bridge in Labasa Town needs to be replaced in the next five years and work on the bridge would begin this year.

FRA: “Maintenance and strengthening work will be conducted immediately to strengthen the capacity of the bridge to last for five years as we work to programme the full bridge replacement. The work on the bridge will be done this year.”

FRA said repair works would depend on the condition of the bridge.

FRA: “The bridge strengthening works could take between 2-4 months or less depending on the condition of the bridge.”

The Fiji Roads was allocated $79.8 million in the 2016-2017 budget for the maintenance program.
