Rugby fanatics in the Northern Division will also have their share of celebrations with the Gold medal winning Fiji 7s team this Friday.
The Commissioner Northern Mr Jovesa Vocea is currently engaged in a meeting with Heads of Government Departments in the North.
However, the chairman of the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North Mr Tevita Ravulo has confirmed to Newswire that the Commissioner Northern has approached them to work together regarding the celebrations in Subrails Park.
RAVULO: “The commissioner came and asked and because it is a government organised celebration so this Friendly North festival is ongoing, so they want to work it out together because they won’t have sufficient time to build the stage and get the band.”

Mr Ravulo added that everything regarding the celebrations is being organised by the Fijian Government.
RAVULO: “Since the Friendly North festival team has already organised the Fiji Military Band which is around, so they will be using our stage including the Sound Tech team that we’ve hired from Suva…they will be using that.”
Meanwhile, the CEO of the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) Mr John O’Connor will be meeting with the Vodafone Fiji 7s team manager Ropate Kauvesi who is expected to arrive into the country today with 7s players Semi Kunatani and Leone Nakarawa on the availability of the players that will be going to the Northern celebrations.
The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) chief executive officer, John O’Connor has confirmed that discussions will take place soon for a 7s Gold medal celebration to be held in the Northern division.
Mr O’Connor said relevant stakeholders would be engaged in the discussions.
O’CONNOR: “I am just waiting for the manager of the team (Mr Ropate Kauvesi) to arrive tomorrow and I will have a discussion with them.”
He said that the FRU had received requests from the people of Vanua Levu requesting for a celebration with the 7s team.
O’CONNOR: “We are just looking into the recent requests that was sent from the Northern Division requesting if the team can go down to the North and currently we looking at the logistic and to see if the players are available and many other things.”
He added that at the moment, nothing has been confirmed yet.
