This was revealed by Vodafone’s Chief Financial Officer Mr. Divik Deo at a press conference today.

DEO: “This year we want to celebrate the Vodafone Hibiscus in a special way given its 60th anniversary. With last years rain and slush at the FDB foreshore fresh in our minds we do not want the 2016 Vodafone  Hibiscus to be awash. Accordingly, with HEG, we have decided to select a new venue that was suitable, and weather proof.”

Mr. Deo said due to construction works at Albert park still in progress the only option was to refer to other alternative areas which is the Vodafone Arena to cater for members of the public that will be attending the festival.

DEO: “We are therefore pleased to announce that this year we have secured the Vodafone Arena and the surrounding car park for hosting the 2016 Vodafone  Hibiscus festival. The Laucala Bay area is a highly convenient location for the hosting of the Hibiscus festival and we hope the new venue will provide a new look and feel to the festival.”

Fiji Sports Council Chief Executive officer Mrs. Litiana Loabuka said the council was excited to be given the opportunity to be part of the event.

LOABUKA: “This is not something that is being taken lightly considering the numbers attending the mother of all festivals. We will work with the Suva City Council to ensure that disruptions are minimized during the event.”

The Vodafone Hibiscus festival will be held on the 12th to the 21st of August 2016.
