The dinner, according to Spinal Injury Association of Fiji executive director Joshko Wakaniyasi is a fundraising drive that promises to be one of the most high-profile events of the year and the association encourages the public’s support through high-profile dinner tickets.

Mr Wakaniyasi said that all profits gained through the event as well as auction proceedings will go towards the construction and restoration of the homes and services of severely disabled people.

WAKANIYASI: “Many people suffering from spinal injuries in Fiji have a very bleak time. We want to give them back some hope and we are honoured that Eric Rush is taking time out of his busy schedule and donating his time to help us.”

The Grand Pacific Hotel will foot his accommodation and avail its ballroom for the event.

WAKANIYASI: “Mr. Rush is in huge demand worldwide as arguably one of the best Rugby corporate speaker in the world.  He is both very funny and inspirational as he relates stories and insights from his many years at the very top of World Rugby. We are very fortunate to secure his support which he is offering totally free of charge as a measure of his support for Fiji and for Spinal injuries.”

Auction prizes include travel, holidays, restaurants and sports memorabilia including an All Blacks jersey signed by Richie McCaw and a ball signed by current captain Kieran Read.

Mr Wakaniyasi said other prominent guests will attend the dinner including former President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

He said Ratu Epeli is very aware of the amazing support that the Spinal Injury Association gives to the many spinal injuries and related disabilities on their books and he has enthusiastically supported the holding of this gala night.

NAILATIKAU: “If Eric Rush can come all the way over here to support us, and Richie McCaw and Kieran Read are prepared to donate prizes, we owe it to these three rugby greats to make sure this night is well attended and well supported.”

The gala dinner will be held on October 11th at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

The Fijian community is invited to purchase tables of ten from $2500 per table.
