Eleven people are homeless after their houses were destroyed in a fire this morning at the Suva Muslim League settlement in Nabua.

The fire started around 5:30am this morning.

Five fire trucks were at the scene at around 6.30am and firefighters tried their best to put down the flames which had engulfed four houses.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said two dwelling houses consisting of three flats each was completely destroyed with its contents and the fire are believed to have started from the flat occupied by a 32-year-old woman.

Naisoro said a joint investigation by National Fire Authority (NFA) and Police is underway.

Meanwhile, a house was also destroyed in a fire in Nakasi.
