The visiting delegation from Japan is in Fiji to look at the impact of OISCA’s work here and paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Minister for Youth and Sports.

In a statement, speaking on behalf of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly the Chairman Hidetoshi Shimokawa said that the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly had been supporting OISCA for over 30 years and that their visit was intended to evaluate the work of OISCA in Fiji and strengthen existing relationships.

The purpose of the Good Will Mission was also to observe how ex-trainees that graduated from OISCA agricultural programs in Nasau youth training are contributing to their communities and the country.

Hon. Tuitubou shared his appreciation for the overwhelming support and contribution from OISCA as the impact was clearly evident at the Ministry’s Nasau youth training centre.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has a working Memorandum of Understanding in place with OISCA International to host the activities of OISCA in Fiji and to improve the capacity of youth in Fiji with a focus on organic agriculture.

Chairperson Shiokawa also handed over a cheque of ¥300,000 to the Hon. Minister as a donation to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
