Nakida youth club president Laisenia Senokonoko praised government’s work in providing relief to the young people of Nakida through the provision of 16 horses in 2011 through the Commissioner Central’s Office.

The 16 horses that were given to us in 2011 has been a great help because our village is inaccessible by road and the only means of transport for us here is either by horse, foot or to travel downstream by boat.

We now have 24 horses and these horses have been used to carry our farming produce to the main road especially our yaqona for sale to the markets.

Mr Senokonoko also informed Hon. Tuitubou that revenue collected through the sale of the youths’ yaqona, the youth club had managed to secure the deposit for a vehicle to be used solely for income livelihood purposes.

We are also very thankful to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for providing us with a chainsaw that has greatly assisted us in creating a clearer and smoother path to our village.

Minister Tuitubou also praised the young people for their achievements and reiterated his support to the realization of the construction of a road directly to the village of Nakida.

This is the second time I have been here and today I have been invited to hold talks with the youth of Nakida so I am well aware of the hardship faced in reaching your village.

I wish to thank you for your resilience and I am very pleased to see the amount of work the youths of Nakida have accomplished thus far and I also wish to reassure you of my support in the construction of a road to your community.

Hon. Tuitubou who is the first government minister to visit Nakida village, led a delegation to the remote community to hold talanoa sessions on development assistance and to monitor the work being carried out by the youth club.
