WAF Chairman, Mr P.L. Munasinghe said they had already started to look for a replacement.  Mr Ravai’s last day at work was yesterday.

“While we thank Mr Ravai for his excellent work over the past five years it is time to position the Authority to meet the engineering and technical challenges ahead,” said Munasinghe.

“WAF is entering a new era that is becoming highly technical, and we need a person with extensive hands-on experience in water and wastewater project development to lead the Authority.”

The move is understood to be linked to the new $810 million (USD$405 million) Greater Suva Area Water and Waste Water Scheme.

Sources within WAF confirmed that Mr Ravai was initially asked to resign, but refused to do so.
