This was a difficulty faced by the residents living and working along that corridor.

Working under the Fiji Roads Authority Maintenance programme, Fulton Hogan Hiways Construction Manager, Phil Tombs said his crew has significantly improved access, especially when faced with rainy weather.

He said the work involves stabilising and sealing of an 850-metre section with particular attention paid to its drainage system.

TOMBS: “This is a major upgrade because we are installing a total of 80 culverts as well as re-grading and aligning drainage that will stop any future flooding, leaving the road in much safer and smoother condition.”
