Fiji Roads Authority Maintenance Works Manager Aram Goes says the Roro ramp will be closed to ships and traffic for the next six weeks.

Ships will be able to use the main wharf face to discharge and load only at high tide.

He said vehicles cannot be loaded or discharged 1.5 hours before and after high water as the ramp incline to the main wharf face is too steep for safe embarking and disembarking of passengers.

The adjusted schedule arrival and departure times are to avoid damages to an undercarriage of vehicles.

Mr. Goes added that the maintenance works will prolong the life of the structure and improve safety for all users.

He said the public should contact the relevant shipping companies for their schedules.
