Fiji Roads Authority  Contractors will be undertaking remedial works after flooded waters recede.

In a statement,Ministry of Information states that Fiji Roads Authority will concentrate on clearing debris from bridges/crossings and reinstating damaged crossings or roads that affect access.

Fiji Roads Authority said that there has been a significant amount of potholes forming during the rain event, and from today onwards this backlog will be repaired also.

Nadi Back Road Nadi Open
Sawani Serea Road Between Naqali and Serea Slip, Road closed until further notice
Queens Road Nadi to Suva Open
Valley Road Sigatoka Open to 4×4 only
Denarau Road Between Nadi Town and Denarau Open

Roads that is now open:

  • Kings Road and Queens Road are now open.
  • Kings Road is open from Korovou to Rakiraki.
  • Kings Road from Tavua is open.
  • The road between Naqali and Serea is closed until further notice.
  • Queens Road intersection at Nadi Town open
  • West end of Sigatoka is also open.
  • Nadi Back Road
  •  The road between Nadi Town and Denarau are also open.

Road that is now closed:

  • Valley Road in Sigatoka is closed to all traffic due to flooding.

More roads expected to be closed today [Update]

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) says water levels in rivers and streams are still very high and rising rapidly.

Fiji Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Rory Garland said flooding and landslips continue to close some main roads.

We are continuing to monitor roads and we will not re-open roads and crossings until it is deemed safe to do so. We are closely monitoring the situation of the roads for all divisions and we expect many more roads to close throughout today.

He said the flooding hazard today is expected to peak at high tide which will be at 5.30pm.

Mr. Garland said some roads and low-lying areas continue to be in danger of flooding as rainfall continues in most parts of the country.

Several roads are being monitored for closure due to high levels of flood water and we will continue to issue alerts and warnings as required.

Waibula Bridge and Qeleni Village Frontage at North Coastal Road in Taveuni is OPEN

All roads in the Eastern Division are open.

Jetty Road in Kadavu – Washout has affect part of the causeway but traffic is still accessible on Jetty road. All roads in Kadavu are still open to traffic.

Multiple roads across Fiji are closed off due to flooding caused by the heavy rain that occurred last night and during today’s early morning hours.

Fiji Roads Authority Acting Chief Executive Officer Rory Garland says flooded roads can be extremely dangerous and people should be cautious at all times.
