$953k to upgrade footpaths in 20 sites around the country

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) continues its footpath upgrading works around the country aimed at improving pedestrian access and safety.

In a statement, Fiji Roads Authority’s CEO John Hutchinson said they are upgrading various footpath sections in:

  • Suva
  • Raiwaqa
  • Nabua
  • Raiwai
  • Nausori
  • Nasinu
  • Lami
  • Sigatoka
  • Lautoka
  • Ba

The most recent is the construction and upgrade to twenty sites in a capital project contract awarded to Hot Springs Hire Services Limited.

HUTCHINSON: “The total contract value of approximately $953k of the twenty sites will include excavation and removal of existing concrete footpath and driveway, preparing of footpath subgrade and base-course and construction of new concrete footpath and driveways.”

Mr Hutchinson said the contractor is working on schedules and have already completed work on some of the sites in Nausori, Nabua and Nasinu.

HUTCHINSON: “FRA wishes to thank the public for their patience and for allowing our contractor the room to safely carry on with the work.”

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
