Fiji One reported Ratu Tevita Momoedonu, Chairman of Ba Provincial Council, at the Ba Provincial Council Meeting in Natalecake Ba:

In all 13 prisons in Fiji, most of them are itaukei. And most of them are Christians… The recent challenge to our chiefs, is to try and address this issue.

The disintegration of the vanua, from the family unit to the vanua, is getting to affect the directions the youth go towards.

Fiji Corrections Service officials said:

  • Fiji currently has a ratio of 181 inmates per 100,000 people.
  • Tailevu has the largest number of inmates followed by Lau, Cakaudrove and Ba.
