Brigadier-General Sitiveni Tukaituraga Qiliho’s appointment as the acting Commissioner of the Fiji Police Force has been extended until a substantive appointment is made to the position.

Brigadier-General Qiliho was appointed on a three-month term following the resignation of South African Ben Groenewald last November.

A government statement said:

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Fiji, acting on the advice of the Constitutional Offices Commission, has extended the appointment of Brigadier-General Sitiveni Tukaituraga Qiliho as the acting Commissioner of the Fiji Police Force until such time when a substantive appointment is made to the position of the Commissioner of the Fiji Police Force.

The Constitutional Offices Commission advertised the vacancy of position of the Commissioner of the Fiji Police Force in December 2015.

Applications for the vacancy (as advertised) closed on 29 January 2016 and are currently being processed by the Constitutional Offices Commission so that a substantive appointment can be made.
