The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho was officially welcomed and dedicated to the Fiji Police Force today.

In his address Brig-Gen Qiliho spoke in vernacular thanking Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and reminded the Police Force on the importance of upholding the law.

QILIHO: “Vei ira saka na turaga na liuliu na lewe ni matanitu nodra osooso saka…E ra tu vata kei yau e na siga vinaka nikua. Vei kemuni saka e na liga ni veiqaravi e na vei tabacakacaka va ovisa ena veisai Viti, e da qarava kina na noda i tavi, e wasea sara kina noda qase ni lotu na noda i Talatala e na mataka ni kua ka vatalega kina na vosa ni tukutuku ni sa vayacora sara tiko.

“E ra kila vinaka o ira na Turaga kei na Marama ni Ovisa na ka au gadreva na veisiga. E mai vadeitaki keda na vosa ni vei qaravi e da mai deitaki e na siga nikua. E va bibi me mai maroroi noda Vanua kei ira nona lewe ni Vanua. Na kena maroroi na kena Lawa o ira na lewe ni Viti kei ira na vulagi ni noda VanuaE sa tu na i tavi me da qarava kina, e da na vei taruliga kina me da cakacaka taki  kina e na i tavi bibi.

English Translation

QILIHO: “I would like the thank the leader of the government (Prime Minister) and government ministers for taking out time from your busy schedule to be here with me on this wonderful day. We are carrying out our various tasks regarding the importance of serving the people.”  

“I do not want to be served, instead, I would rather serve you who have been instruments in serving the people every day. Our officers know very well what I always expect every day which is the importance of protecting the land in terms of obeying the law for members of the public and visitors to our country. Our duty is ahead of us and we must work together to achieve this important task.”

Members of the diplomatic corp and cabinet ministers were present at the ceremony at the Police Special Response Unit in Nasinu.

The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho will be officially welcomed and dedicated to the Fiji Police Force tomorrow.

The dedication ceremony will begin at 9:30am at the Police Special Response Unit in Nasinu.

A Fijian traditional ceremony will be accorded to the Commissioner.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama who is the Chairperson of the Constitutional Offices Commission will be present at the ceremony.

Brig-Gen Qiliho who led a Fiji delegation to the United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UN COPS) in New York will be returning today.
