The Fiji Police Force will be out in numbers as they conduct their operations over the Easter weekend. 

Police Spokesperson, Inspector Josaia Weicavu said this is to ensure that there is peaceful and accident-free during the easter weekend.

We will intensify our operation this Easter Weekend at all major cities and towns, likewise on country patrol.

A Special Breathalyzer operation will be conducted by our traffic departments and Highway Patrol officers on Drunk and Driving Offences, Speeding, Careless and Dangerous Driving nationwide.

Inspector Weicavu said that those caught driving under the influence of alcohol will be taken into custody and will appear in court on Tuesday after the Easter long weekend.

Drivers are now warned in advance not to drive whilst under the influence of liquor. We will not tolerate this type of attitude from drivers.

Inspector Weicavu said people traveling far this Easter are urged to plan their trips well and to avoid over speeding.

Take a rest when you get tired. Drive within the specified zone speed limits.

It is always better to arrive late but safely to your next destination then arriving early to everyone’s final destinations 6 feet underground.

An accident can and will change your life and your health for the rest of your existence on this earth. Obedience is better than sacrifice.
