Police Chief Operations Officer and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Tito Elo said a total of three hundred police officers were deployed during the second celebrations at the ANZ stadium yesterday.

ELO: “Operation Rio Gold with more than 300 police officers deployed for the celebrations in Suva and more than 100 in Nadi was incident free without any major reports.”

ACP Elo said despite the success the only issue the force faced was the separation of children from their parents.

ELO: “The only issue we had to deal with particularly in Suva were children being separated from their parents but we manage to reunite them.”

The ‘Operation Rio Gold’ was made up of officers from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Fiji Corrections Service (FCS), and the Fiji Police Force.

ELO: “Apart from that the joint operation between the friendly forces everything went well and we are appreciative of the support shown by members of the public.”
