A police statement said the Force had sent a special team from its Eastern Division to visit homes within the Nakasi Police Station jurisdiction.

Divisional Police Commander Eastern Senior Superintendent Maritino Qiolevu said Nakasi was a red spot for the division. The officers visited residents to share safety tips and also discussed ways to improve their relationship with the community.

For the whole of the Eastern Division, our police station in Nakasi received most of the complaints and that is why we are conducting our house to house visitations.

This is also where most of the complaints against police service is received and we want to address these concerns by the community.

The force said the community visitation was a new approach employed by the Eastern Division in line with the Acting Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho’s focus on proactive policing.

Members of the community will also be required to fill in questionnaires given by these officers as we need feedback from them to enable us to prepare strategies to improve on our service to them.

The officers, who are divided into groups will continue their visits to individual homeowners this week.
