The Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho is currently on a tour of Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) countries.

Brigadier General Qiliho stopped over in Port Vila, Vanuatu today and met his counterpart the Acting Commissioner of Police Robson Iavro.

A police statement said Brig-Gen Qiliho was accorded a guard of Honor upon arrival at the Police Headquarters prior to the meeting which he used to formally meet his counterpart.

The meeting touched on various bilateral issues which both the Fiji and Vanuatu Police could benefit from, building on existing relations that the two forces were already engaged in.

Brig-Gen Qiliho mentioned his appreciation towards Vanuatu’s continuous assistance and support to Fiji whilst at the same time confirming Fiji’s continued assistance as well.

Fiji Police had been assisting Vanuatu Police with the provision of a pathologist to assist in investigations.

Brig-Gen Qiliho also held discussions with the Minister for Internal Affairs Hon. Alfred Maoh who holds the Police portfolio as well. After meeting the Hon Minister he also met with Deputy Director General of the MSG where he also held discussions on MSG initiatives agreed to at the Leaders’ Summit.

Brig-Gen Qiliho is accompanied by Fiji Police Director International Relations Mr. Ulaiasi Ravula, Mr. Joji Washington from the Ministry of Defence and Mr. Vilikesa Naivalucava from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation will also visit Honiara in the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea’s Port Moresby before returning to Fiji.
