‘Operation Cavuraka’ moves to the Northern Division

A joint operation by the Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces against marijuana cultivation will now move to the Northern Division.

This was revealed by the Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho.

Commissioner Qiliho said Operation Cavuraka would be expanding it’s coverage in the Nothern Division.

QILIHO:”On operation Cavuraka it will continue. We are currently in the North in Vanua Levu in particular and there are other Islands up there we need to look into.”

“They are currently on an operation force there. We are currently relooking into a report that was carried out from an initial operation there and that information need to be digested by our Intelligence unit.”

Meanwhile, Brigadier-General Qiliho said investigations were also underway regarding a social media post showing police officers partaking in an alleged misconduct during operation Cavuraka.

He said the three men shown in the photograph would also be providing their statements soon.

QILIHO:”We are continuing with the investigations. We are getting statement from the three men that was involved as well and we will issue out a formal statement soon.”

Brigadier-General Qiliho will be making a public announcement next week on the key performance indicators of the first six months.
