The ‘MV Princess Civa’ has arrived safely at Naikeleyaga village, Kabara with about one hundred and fifty passengers on board.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said the vessel arrived at 7:20pm.

Also at around five this afternoon, the fiberglass boat with four passengers on board arrived safely at Susui village, Vanuabalavu.

WEICAVU: “They were rescued by another boat that left Susui Vill on search and later tugged their boat ashore.”

The search and rescue operation is now canceled.

WEICAVU: “Once again we advise mariners to take precautions and equipped themselves well with all sea safety equipment when going out in open seas. Your safety is our concern.”

The ‘MV Princess Civa’ left Lakeba for Oneata at seven this morning but failed to reach and it is believed to be drifting somewhere between Lakeba and Oneata.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said ‘MV Princess Civa’ had picked up church members for a meeting in Kabara.

WEICAVU: “The boat is picking up Church members for the divisional meeting to be held in Kabara. The number of passengers on board is still to be confirmed.”

Meanwhile, Inspector Weicavu said a fiberglass boat with four passengers on board left Tuvuca for Susui village, Vanuabalavu, Lau when it developed engine problem and are drifting at Sea.

Inspector Weicavu said the search and rescue has been activated.

WEICAVU: “We request mariners to look out for these two drifting boats and assist them accordingly, please.”
