The 27-year-old mother and her 2-year-old son believe to have consumed ‘harmful chemicals’ are in a stable condition at the Sigatoka Hospital.

Police said they believed the woman first consumed the chemical and then gave the same to her son, yesterday.

Police spokesperson, Naina Ragigia said that the incident happened in Cuvu, Sigatoka and reasons as to why the woman committed the offence is unknown at this time.

We are urging members of the public that attempting to take their lives is not the answer to one’s problem and attempting to take another person’s life is the offence of Attempted Murder.

In the recent weeks, we have received numerous reports of cases involving women and children and we wish to reiterate that such cases will be investigated thoroughly and those responsible will be dealt with accordingly to the law.

Police say they are yet to question the woman.
