Director of Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahesh Mishra said members of the general public can expect more visibility of the Police and the Land Transport Authority during the National Sports Day weekend.

MISHRA: “We are going to have a joint operation with the Land Transport Authority, the point that we would like to stress to the public and especially to the motorists who drink and drive, speed and do dangerous driving or bad driving behavior you must understand your life is precious to us and also the lives of the other road users are precious. We want the public to enjoy the long weekend and drive safe on our public road.”

“We will try to ensure to take those drivers that take the law in their own hands, we will ensure that the law ¬†is enforced.”

He added that motorists participating in reckless driving would be taken into custody.

The Land Transport Authority Chief Executive Officer Mr Naisa Tuinaceva said they would work closely with the police to make sure road safety regulations were adhered to by the general public.
