Two people are in police custody after they were found in possession of dried leaves believed to be marijuana. The two people were searched and arrested at two various places yesterday afternoon.

The first incident involved a 31-year-old man found with 59 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana at Tavakubu, Lautoka.

In the second incident, a 40-year-old market vendor was searched at his stall when police received information about his dealings. The incident took place at the Labasa Market and the man was found with 17 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

The men were arrested and the leaves have been sent for analysis. They are expected to be questioned soon after the analysis results are received by police.

A statement from police said:

We  will continue to search and arrest people that are suspected to be dealing with the illicit drug . Some people tend to take advantage of the long weekend and engage in this illegal dealing and police are always on the lookout for such opportunists.
