A 27-year-old man was admitted to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital after the vehicle he was travelling in, veered off the road and landed in the Wainibuka river on Monday afternoon.

Police reports say the 27-year-old passenger was travelling to Lautoka in a vehicle driven by a 55 year old man.

The vehicle veered off the road at Naqia on the Kings Highway and landed in the Wainibuka river.

Villagers nearby helped the men and rushed them to the Nayavu Health Centre. The 27-year-old was transferred to CWMH later the same day.

Police say the driver will be questioned soon.
