A 39-year-old man of Siberia, Labasa has been charged by the Labasa Police Station for using a cane knife on his 35-year-old wife and his 17-year-old daughter after an argument at their home on Friday night.

Police Spokesperson, Inspector Josaia Weicavu told Newswire that the man has been charged with 2 counts of ‘Act With Intent to Cause Grievous Harm’ and 2 counts of ‘Serious Assaults’.

The daughter has been transferred to the CWM hospital for more treatment while the wife is still being treated in Labasa hospital.

Inspector Weicavu said the man will be produced in the Labasa magistrate court tomorrow.

In a statement issued by police yesterday, Police Spokesperson, Inspector Josaia Weicavu said both victims were admitted at the Labasa Hospital with head and hand injuries. Inspector Weicavu added the two are in stable conditions.

Family members are advised to resolve their domestic issues amicably and not to resort to violence. Spur of a moment outrage can cost the life of an individual and also put you behind bars for the rest of your life. A Family is where love and care for each other should be paramount at all times.
