Police spokesperson Naina Ragigia said the fire took place at around 6pm on Saturday when the shop was closed after business hours.

Ragigia said the National Fire Authority and Police officers are working closely with each other to try and determine the cause of fire.

A statement released today by Vision Investments Limited said the branch was closed and no employees were on the premises when the fire started.

The damage to the branch was extensive. The branch is a small branch operation compared to other branches. The branch was insured for material damage and business interuption and any losses to the company would be minimal.

The building is owned by an external landlord and we will discuss with them the building restoration works with the intention of recommencing branch operations at the earliest.

The statement said the seven employees of the branch will be reassigned to other operations of the company until Navua Branch operations recommence.
