Police have questioned and released the five men who were caught transporting drugs from the Nausori Highlands in the early hours of Tuesday morning last week.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said the men will be charged once police receive the government analyst report confirming the drugs.

We are still waiting for the drugs to be analysed. The government analyst report will determine whether it was drug or not. Once we get confirmation on that than the five men will be charged.

Five men are in police custody at the Nadi Police Station after police intercepted their vehicle transporting drugs at Tabaraki Road, Nausori Highlands early yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said the driver and his four passengers were taken in.

In custody is a 43-year-old driver and his four passengers aged 45, 32, 30 and a 20-year-old, all are farmers of a village in the interior of Ba.

They were found in possessions of dried leaves kept in sack believed to be marijuana.

Inspector Weicavu said police investigations continue.
