5 in critical condition after Labasa accident

A 57 and 48-year-old driver are admitted in a critical condition at Labasa Hospital after the 57-year-old driver tried to overtake a power tiller that was driven by a 45-year-old farmer of Dreketi. 

Police Spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said the accident happened at the Varutu slope in Nasarawaqa last night.

WEICAVU: “The 57-year-old suspect tried to overtake the power tiller when he bumped the car driven by the 48-year-old that was coming from the opposite direction. The man then also hit the power tiller and ended up in the drain.”

Inspector Weicavu said the power tiller was conveying a 72-year-old man, a 52-year-old woman, and a 17-year-old student.

WEICAVU: “All receive are admitted at the Labasa Hospital for observations. We again advise drivers to observe all road rules and practice safety when behind those wheels for their safety, the safety of their passengers and for the protection of all other road users.”

Inspector Weicavu said police investigations continue.
