The 39‑year‑old man of Lepanoni village who has been produced in court with one count of rape of his 16-year-old niece is now the prime suspect in the brutal murder of Mere Ailevu in Deuba two weeks ago.

Acting Chief of Investigations ACP Luke Navela told Newswire that no charges have been laid yet in relation to the murder of 14‑year‑old Mere but the man has on two other separate incidents been charged with raping an 18-year-old and 16-years-old.

He is the same man that was charged for the rape of an 18-year-old girl in Deuba then his 16-years-old niece.

Navela said the 18-year-old was only 13-years-old when horrific incident occurred at the hands of this man in 1998.

Police Investigations continue into the brutal murder of Mere Ailevu.

The 39-year-old man was produced in court last week for allegedly raping his 16-year-old niece in Deuba two years ago and will reappear in court on the 1st of April 2016.
