A 21-year-old man died after an altercation outside a service station in Nakasi around 9 pm last night.

According to police, five men are currently in custody.

A fight broke out between the deceased and the suspects.  Police believe the victim was severely assaulted by the group. He was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre where he was pronounced Dead on Arrival.

Fiji Police, Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu confirmed to Newswire that the men are in police custody.

There was a struggle outside the service station in Nakasi and result of the post-mortem will confirm the cause of death.

Update 10.18am: A police spokesperson has corrected their earlier release that the victim was a 21-year-old, and not a 29-year-old as previously reported.

Update: 10.48pm: A police spokesperson has further clarified that five men are now in custody.  The story has been updated with the latest information.
