The Hon. Minister Akbar will be visiting the schools in the division to hand over the much-needed assistance to 200 students on Monday.

“I will travel to the North next week, to conduct an extensive awareness on the National Child Helpline at Koroinasolo Primary School in Bua, Navai Primary School in Seaqaqa and Lakeba District School in Cakaudrove.

“These schools will also be provided with school stationeries and this program is aligned with the Ministry’s commitment to Reach Project, that aims to increase reachout to empower those living in rural and remote communities,”

On Tuesday, Minister Akbar and her team will visit the Babasiga Ashram and have discussions on Government’s age care service plans.

Following this, the Ministerial team will pay a visit to Labasa Maternity Ward and then Lakeba District School.

Permanent Secretary Dr Josefa Koroivueta and Director Social Welfare Mr Rupeni Fatiaki will accompany Minister Akbar on the two-day tour.

The National Child Helpline is an initiative of the Fijian Government that enables children and parents to seek free counseling and advice, even report cases concerning the welfare of children through the toll-free line 1325.
