Russian military personnel are expected in Fiji next month to train soldiers following the arrival of equipment last week.

Acting Military Commander Commodore Viliame Naupoto confirmed this after the arrival of 25 shipping containers of “small arms, supporting weapons, two military trucks, and advanced training equipment” in Suva.

The acting commander told Fiji media that members of the Russian military are due in Fiji next month to formally hand over the equipment and conduct training ahead of the next rotation of peace keeping in March.
