Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto was accorded a traditional welcome as the head of the RFMF at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua this morning.

Commander Naupoto said two of the themes he would first like the RFMF to understand would be if they were fit for their roles and fitting into the role.

NAUPOTO: “The foundation of my tenure as Commander RFMF is base on two key themes, one is that for us to ask ourselves if we are fit for the role and the second one fitting into the role. What we do will come us underpin by those two.We must make sure that we are fit enough to perform the role that RFMF is being given under the Constitution.”

The traditional ceremony was attended by the Hon. Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Cabinet Ministers and members of the diplomatic corps.

Members of the Republic of Fiji Military Force (RFMF) gathered today at the RFMF Chapel at Queens Elizabeth Barracks to witness the dedication and church service of the Commander RFMF Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto.

Commander Naupoto said it is a humble experience and symbolic to be given the position of commander.

Commander Naupoto was blessed at the dedication service in the presence of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Speaker of Parliament Doctor Jiko Luveni, various government ministers, Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho and invited guests.

Reverend Major Ilaitia Tuwere led the church service and reminded Commander Naupoto to lead by example and also to make a difference in the RFMF.

Commander Naupoto said he will do his best to fulfill his responsibility as Commander.

A Fijian traditional ceremony for the Inauguration of the Commander will take place tomorrow at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB).
