The boat ’Kadavu Eagle’ is aimed at improving service delivery to the province with a population of  over 10,000 and 75 villages.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa while launching the boat in Suva said accessibility was a challenge for most of the villages and getting around the island had been difficult.

“In 2015, the Social Welfare office in Kadavu was opened and has since been providing much needed assistance to the people of Kadavu.” Minister Vuniwaqa said.

Minister Vuniwaqa said the services included easier access to financial assistance for the underprivileged, quicker response to child protection and family issues, more awareness programs and availability of advice for the locals.
