His Excellency the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote yesterday welcomed another member to the Fijian Judiciary.

Puisne Judge to the High Court Sunil Sharma was sworn in at State House by President Konrote in the presence of senior members of the judiciary, including Chief Justice, Judge Anthony Gates, Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde and chief registrar, Yohan Liyanage.

Judge Sharma holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from the University of South Pacific in 1999 and joined the High Court of Fiji in 2000.

He worked at the Legal Aid Commission for five years and later entered private practice.

Judge Sharma is accredited by the International Advocacy Training Council (IATC) to be a Trial Advocacy Teacher for lawyers in Fiji.

Prior to his appointment, he was the director of Legal Aid.
