Two Indian Nationals have been convicted of conspiracy to defraud and influencing a public official by the Suva Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Mukesh Shankarsinh Purohit has been convicted of using a forged document and conspiracy to defraud-influencing a public official.

Purohit appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.

Purohit used a birth certificate knowing that it was false and conspired with another person with the intention of dishonestly influencing Fiji Immigration Officers in their exercise of their duties in the issuance of a passport.

Meanwhile, another Indian National Anil Kumar had conspired with another person with the intention of dishonestly influencing Fiji Immigration Officers in the exercise of their duties in the issuance of a passport.

Anil Kumar appeared before Magistrate Waleen George.

Both cases have been adjourned to the 7th of next month for Sentencing and Mitigation submissions.
