Usamate said they needed to look at the holistic picture to effectively address the health of the nation.

Health is something we cannot just address from our ministry. We need to look at other things that affect the health of people for example water, sanitation, agricultural practices etc.

Usamate said the visit would also provide advocacy messages on health to the villages in Kadavu that have only one nurse to serve them and deal with the issues that they faced.

As a government we are very interested to make sure with whatever services we have, we not only provide to our major urban centres but as much as possible we can move out and meet the people in the rural areas. Government’s ultimate vision is to make sure that we can build a better Fiji, that means building better health for those of us that live here in the greater urban areas and those that are in the outer islands.
