The HMNZS Otago is expected to make diplomatic port visit to Fiji on Friday during their two-month patrol regarding illegal fishing in the Pacific.

The HMNZS Otago will also make diplomatic port visits toTuvalu, Samoa and Tonga.

The aim is to deter unregulated and unreported fishing activity, on behalf of several Pacific island countries.

The operation is sponsored by New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the ship will carry fisheries officers from the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and Pacific Islands countries.
