The Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) can disconnect power supply to your property if they cannot conduct meter readings, even if there isn’t an outstanding balance in the customer’s account.

An FEA representative confirmed to Newswire that electrical meter boxes were the property of FEA.

If we do not have access to it for more than 2 months to take readings, the FEA would disconnect that customer’s electricity.

Jeet Kumar, a customer from Nadera, was confused after electricity to his house was cut-off yesterday.

FEA disconnected power supply at my place in Nadera today (yesterday) around midday. I thought it was off because there was power outage around Viti Levu at that time.

An FEA staff later advised Kumar that power was disconnected because the gate to Kumar’s property was locked when he had come to do the reading.

FEA also confirmed that customers can forward in readings from the meter themselves to FEA Customer Care on 132333 if their property is inaccessible during the day for meter readings.
