Employment Minister Jone Usamate met with the General Secretary for the National Union of Catering, Hospitality and Tourism Industries Employees Mr Daniel Urai for a ‘talanoa’ session to strengthen Government-Union relations.

Minister Usamate highlighted that the purpose of the meeting was to ensure that the vision and mission of the Ministry are achieved collectively as tripartite partners through the promotion of decent wages, decent employment conditions and a decent work environment that promotes dignity in the workplace for all types of work.

“It includes workplace productivity which means working with available resources efficiently, effectively and economically in a sustainable manner,” Minister Usamate said.

General Secretary Mr Daniel Urai thanked the Minister for Employment for the opportunity in meeting them and for the successful discussions on the way forward for the betterment of Union members who are the workers and the nation as a whole.

Minister Usamate ended his ‘talanoa’ session with the Mr Urai by reminding them of the essence of the employment legislation which is good faith and social dialogue that will ensure the attainment of the ministry’s vision which is decent employment and productivity for all.
