FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Healey said this was part of efforts to improve operational efficiency.

HEALEY:  “As part of an ongoing drive to improve operational efficiency, Fiji National University has outsourced its security on campus to Professional Security Services. In the event, 49 staff have been redeployed to other roles with the university and 61 opted for the redundancy package.”

Mr Healey said FNU was working with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the process was carried out in an appropriate manner.

HEALEY: “The university worked closely with the Ministry of Labour to ensure this process was done in a proper and transparent manner. FNU values its staff highly and is grateful to its former security personnel for their engagement in this cost-saving exercise.”
