Speaking at the school’s cadet pass-out parade, His Excellency the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote reminded the 654 cadets to always keep in mind the values of respect, team work, physical and moral courage, integrity and obedience learnt during the cadet training program.

President Konrote said the cadet training program was important in moulding the character of Fijian youth and to help them develop into responsible and disciplined citizens.

KONROTE: “A number of players of Fiji’s past and present rugby teams were students of Ratu Navula College. This is a testament of how far discipline and commitment can take one in life’s journey.”

The Head of State called on parents present at the pass-out parade to support their children and complement Government’s efforts in removing all barriers to quality education.

KONROTE: “Our role as parents is in ensuring that they attend school and stay in school. This will help make Fiji a knowledge-based society.”

President Konrote, who is also Fiji’s chief advocate in the fight against non-communicable diseases, encouraged students to demonstrate a heightened level of discipline by choosing healthy diets over junk foods and exercising regularly.

KONROTE: “Lead by example and keep our environment clean and free of mosquitoes so we can prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, Chikungunya and Zika Virus. I urge you to do your bit in the nationwide ‘Fight the Bite – Clean-up Fiji’ campaign.”

Year 10 student, Elijah Cabeiwasa took the award for most improved cadet while head boy, Amenatave Toranibau received the baton of honour.
