A meeting of industry and academic stakeholders currently underway in Suva will come up with a communique outlining competency needs of the various industries in Fiji.

The two-day collaboration, organised by the  Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC), started yesterday at USP.

Richard Wah, Executive Chairman of FHEC, said in statement:

We want Fiji’s higher education sector to be trusted and respected, for offering relevant and quality programmes, by the Pacific region and other countries of the world.

In order to do this, the Fiji Higher Education Commission is working with partners to ensure that there are quality institutions producing high quality graduates.

Wah said it was also important that the industries and the higher education institutions in Fiji collaborated with and understood each other.

For the first time, institutions, industries and other important stakeholders are coming together to find a way forward for higher education in Fiji.
