The Fiji National University’s Chancellor and Chair Mr Ikbal Jannif met with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) this morning to discuss the current weather situation and University operations.

  • All classes scheduled at campuses in the Central and Northern divisions will be cancelled from midday today (12pm). This includes evening classes. All students are advised to return home.
  • All staff who reside in low-lying areas or areas which are prone to flooding are advised to depart for their home at midday (12pm).
  • All staff who reside in areas that are not prone to flooding are requested to remain at work as normal.

For further clarification please consult your respective lecturer or supervisor.

All campuses in the Western division remains closed.

All staff and students are reminded to keep safe, adhere to warnings issued by relevant authorities and follow the media regarding latest advisories on the weather.

FNU campuses in the Western Division closed, Central and Northern are open (5/04/16)

The Fiji National University campuses in the Western Division will remain closed today.

However, all campuses in the Central and Northern divisions are now open.

FNU Senior Public Relations Officer Ranbeer Singh said that staff or students who cannot come to work or attend classes are requested to inform their immediate supervisors or lectures.

Fiji National University (FNU) campuses in the Central and Northern divisions will close at 2pm today due to the adverse weather and flooding.

FNU Campuses in the Western division have closed at 11am today.

FNU Senior Public Relations Officer Ranbeer Singh confirmed to Newswire that all staff and students are requested to go home.

All support staff are to ensure offices, classrooms, labs and other buildings are secured before departing home. Staff are requested to liaise with their respective supervisors if they have any queries.

All classes scheduled for this evening have also been cancelled.

Staff and students are advised to monitor the media for updates regarding FNU operations and classes.
