Lessons taught by the Scouts and Girl Guides Associations speaks volumes of factors that will contribute positively towards the Fijian Government’s overall initiatives in harnessing and fully utilising the potential of youths and young children in Fiji.

The President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote stressed this point while during his address at the Investiture as Chief Scout of Fiji at the State House.

KONROTE: “As Chief Scout, I would like to urge more of our young people to join the Scouts Movement in our schools and in this regard, I would like to appeal and seek the assistance of the Honourable Ministers for Education and Youth and Sports in promoting and supporting the Scout Movement in the schools and within the communities.”

“The Scouts Movement is also an association that helps promote discipline, confidence and  teamwork for its members and these are desired qualities which greatly assist in the overall character development of our young in becoming mature and responsible citizens of our beloved Fiji.”

He also paid tribute to the President of the Fiji Scouts Association senior officials of the Association for your commitment and continued support.

KONROTE: “The principal objective and the aim of the Scout Movement is to develop good citizenship among young people by training them to become self-reliant, patriotic and assist in the promotion and improvement of their physical, mental and spiritual development.”

“I encourage the Fiji Scouts and Girl Guides Association to work together in helping our young people in developing their full potential to become our future leaders.Let us continue the good work in promoting the Scout Movement and in this regard, I would like to assure you all of my support and wish the Fiji Scouts Association well and every success in your future endeavours.”

1,000 young boys and girls from all over Fiji will be converging in Drasa, Lautoka for the  Cub Camporee on the 16th of August.
